Zimbabwe like any other SADC country experience veld fires that destroys properties and the environment. In rural Zimbabwe, these veld fires are normally unmonitored, seriously destroying common property natural resources. Unfortunately, most rural populations depend directly and indirectly on these natural resources for their livelihoods. The Veld Fire Identification & Management (VFIM) Program promotes village level veld fire early identification and management leveraging unemployed youth as village veld fire ambassadors. The youth are linked to the organisation’s satellite veld fire detection system and are able to identify veld fires occurring in their villages in near real time for early management.
